Writers Get Social

Slumdog likes to go out in his pajamas sometimes, with cookies and milk. Except one winter, there was no milk. Santy Clause drank it all. Poor slumdog, he had to be creative. Right in his living room, with slippers, cookies and pajamas; he connected to the world and socialized.

Check out these sites that connect writers around the map, all from your laptop! But as with any sites, remember the data you put on, especially the big gatekeepers like Facebook, twitter, and the such, because they’re like Santy Clause: They know when we’ve been bad or good. Yikes!

Writers Cafe Org: An online writing community where writers can post their work, get reviews, befriend other writers, and much more.

Book-In-A-Week: An online community where the main purpose of the group is to write, exchange information, and share publishing news. Anything writing related.

Writertopia: This site offers tools such as managing your submissions, event listings, workshop start-ups or join an existing one and browse market listings.

Zoetrope: A community where artists can submit and workshop original work. Members can workshop a wide-range of film arts, including music, graphics, design, and film & video, as well as access some of the best e-collaboration tools.

Pondrin: Social network for writers and artists. Members share their own poetry, stories, art, publications, blogs, and lyrics. The more you participate on sharing comments, the more points you earn.

High On Poems: A creative platform for amateur poets to publish and share their work by being a part of the poetry community.
